Riviera dei Ciclopi – From Catania to Acitrezza and back

A full day excursion discovering the “Riviera dei Ciclopi”. During this relaxing day you will admire the Ulysses’ Caves, the Medieval Castle in Acicastello and the naturalistic area of Acitrezza and mythologic Cyclops’ Islands. While navigating, you will learn the basics of sailing and some curiosities and legends about our land. During the day you will have the possibility to swim and we will offer you also lunch.

Tips

We suggest you to bring your own swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen lotion. Wind jackets and hats can be needed since it could be windy while sailing.

If you think you can suffer from seasickness we suggest you to take pills and patches before the tour (under suggestion of your doctor). If you don’t have the equipment required we will provide you with the necessary, ask for it when you book.

Welcome on board!

Once you meet the skipper you will get on board on a boat with three double cabins (one will be available during the excursion), a bathroom with shower and external shower, a kitchen and a refrigerator. On board, a welcome refreshment of homemade biscuits or almond pastries and ice tea will be waiting for you!

Passage in front of the Caves of Ulysses

Passage in front of the Caves of Ulysses (from the permitted distance). These caves were formed in a beautiful lava cliff overlooking the sea. The colors of the seabed are stunning, ranging from deep blue to light blue to turquoise.

Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area

Sailing to the Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area, passing under the medieval castle of Aci Castello. The view of the castle from the sea is spectacular.
Once moored near the Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area, you will have about one hour of free time. For example, you can stroll through the charming fishing village of Aci Trezza, or rent a pedal boat* to reach Lachea Island, the heart of the reserve, where you can go snorkeling using the equipment we provide. *not included in the price and available depending on the season.

Lunch

We will offer you lunch** (included in the price), consisting of: appetizer, fish-based first course (which may vary depending on the catch of the day), fresh seasonal fruit, water and local white wine. Depending on sea and weather conditions, lunch will take place either moored to a buoy in the Marine Protected Area or inside the harbor.
**Vegetarian or vegan menus are available upon request. For any other dietary requirements (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.), please inform us when booking.

Back to our home port

During the return voyage, we will offer you seasonal fruit and, weather permitting, we will stop for a further swim in the open sea. The return to the port is expected at around 5:00 PM.

Mariblù is 10,30-meter-long sailboat with three cabins for up to 8 travelers plus crew.
