What to do in Sicily in autumn
Summer has come to an end, but it’s never too late to organize an out-of-town trip, a weekend in a city that can offer fun but also culture, or maybe a holiday that despite the lower temperatures allows you to live a day at sea! Are you wondering how it’s possible? We’ll tell you!
The sea in autumn
Surely you will not find temperatures that push you to take a bath in the sea, but if you love the tranquility, if you like to relax admiring the colors of the sea and listening to the sound of the waves, then this is the right time to spend a few hours on one of the beautiful Sicilian beaches that in summer are crowded while in autumn are almost deserted. If you choose to visit western Sicily we recommend the beach of Mondello (in Palermo), the beach of Cala Rossa in Favignana and San Vito lo Capo. In the eastern part of the island are definitely not to be missed instead Letojanni, Giardini Naxos and Isola Bella in the province of Messina, Marzamemi and Calamosche in Syracuse and Fiumefreddo in Catania.
If you want to live a different experience, book a sailing tour departing from the port of Catania: lulled by the waves you can relax and even take a tan!
Autumn and art
Taking advantage of mild temperatures and not as hot as the summer ones (which often reach 40 °) you can visit many cities of art. Monuments, churches and historic buildings can be found in every corner of the city of Noto, the capital of the Baroque. Not to be outdone are the cities of Palermo and Catania, rich in history and culture and also with so much folklore!
Autumn, food and excursion
Sicily offers good food in every season of the year, but if you visit the island in autumn you can take advantage of the various festivals held in the villages that promote food and local products. In November it is easy to find the famous biscuits of the dead.
For those looking for activities to do at this time of year we recommend a tour on Etna: contact our partner Etna Experience and book your excursion to the volcano Etna, you will discover paths and lunar landscapes difficult to find elsewhere!
